Biography

Dr. Kenon D. Renfrow is a professor in the Division of Music at Bob Jones University where he has taught applied piano, piano pedagogy, music technology, church keyboard, the entrepreneurial musician, and music business. He also serves as Director of Piano Pedagogy and  Coordinator of Church Keyboard program. He is active in producing music for a variety of campus productions. His students have been accepted to prestigious graduate schools, teach in universities and conservatories all over the world, and have won major competitions. 

As a performer and recording artist, Dr. Renfrow has presented concerts on piano and organ for churches and teacher groups in the United States and Canada. He was a pioneer in the creation of multimedia concerts.

Prior to joining the faculty at BJU, Renfrow was Professor of Keyboard Performance and Director of Keyboard Pedagogy at The Frost School of Music at The University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He has published articles in American Music Teacher, Clavier, Church Musician, Electronic Musician's Digital Piano Buyers Guide, Keyboard Companion, Piano & Keyboard, and the Proceedings & Reference of the National Conference on Piano Pedagogy. A prolific arranger, composer, and author of leading textbooks in his field, his numerous print music offerings are published by Alfred Publishing Company, Soundforth, Hal Leonard Corporation, and Oxford University Press. His recordings are published by Piano Music Now and Alfred Publishing Company.

Renfrow holds the Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education from The University of Oklahoma and the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from Bob Jones University. Renfrow has served in churches as worship pastor, pianist, organist, and guest artist for more than 40 years. He has worked with choirs, ensembles, and soloists as accompanist and vocal coach, and as music producer for large-scale theatrical productions.  

Happily married for over 35 years, Kenon and Beth have 2 married children and 7 favorite grandchildren. In addition to his musical activities, Ken enjoys camping, sports cars, and antique clocks.
